Dr. Sharon Peng received her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, USA, and M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China. In 1995, she joined Philips Research USA as a Senior Member Research Staff, where she worked on many consumer electronics technology research and development including HDTV video codec, front-end and back-end video processing, display processing, and network communications. In 2002, Sharon joined Harman, where she worked as a Principal Video Engineer, Audio/Video System Architect, Senior Engineering Manager for digital hardware development, and director of Advanced Technology Group of Lifestyle division. Her expertise on various consumer electronics areas include audio and video signal processing architecture and algorithms, high to low end consumer electronics product development, display enhancement, audio/video receiver systems, DVD/Blu-ray technologies, wireless audio/video transmission technology, and audio/video quality enhancement. During her professional endeavors, Sharon generated 18 US patents and various IEEE publications.

Starting 1997, Sharon has actively participated many IEEE conferences and publications. She especially devoted increasingly amount of time for the IEEE conferences and activities sponsored by IEEE Consumer Electronics society. Since 2004, she has served as technical committee member and track/session chair for the ICCE, ICCE-Berlin, ISCE, IGIC conferences consistently. In 2010, she spearheaded the IGIC2011 initiative and contributed significantly to the successful IGIC2011 in Los Angeles serving as the Vice Executive Committee Chair and Financial Chair. Sharon has been serving as the CE society’s Award Committee Chair, the society Treasurer, and recently been elected as the society’s Vice President of Operations and Planning for calendar year 2013 - 2014.
